Fast charging is available for a long time and now OEMs are trying to push its limits. Every year, a new manufacturer comes and make the fastest charger and gets a lot of attention. Oppo unveiled their fast charging technology back in MWC 2016 which can charge a 2,500 mAh battery in just 15 minutes. Even though it was a big thing at that time, now it is quite obsolete.
A few months ago Xiaomi took the throne by showing high speed fast charging where a 4,000 mAh battery was fully charged in just 17 minutes with the help of their 100 Watt charger. Now, Vivo has taken it to the extreme.
Vivo 120W Fast Charger – 4,000mAh in 13 Min
Vivo is in the headlines as they revealed that they have built a 120 Watt fast charging technology, which can charge a 4,000mAh battery in 13 minutes. In just 6 minutes, it can charge up to 50% of that. They are calling the feature as FlashCharge.
Vivo has not mentioned when this technology will be available, but we are expecting it to be at the end of this year or early 2020. Vivo is also working on a 5G device which might be available very soon, and we’re expecting it might feature it. Speaking of 5G, you should read the latest report from Ericsson Mobility Report.
Anyway, As the competition is heating up, every OEM is trying to get the upper hand by doing something extraordinary. Even though 120 Watt fast charging feels great, there is a big chance that batteries will die faster and the daily battery life might get a hit.
