HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones has officially launched their two upgraded iterations of Nokia smartphones i.e Nokia 5.1 Plus and 6.1 Plus in India. Both the midrange phones were apparently showcased in an event hosted by the company at Delhi. According to the company, these smartphones bring some of the key features like popular all-screen designs, high-end performance and smart AI imaging features at an impressive price bracket.
Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus are online exclusive products in India and will be available on Flipkart and on Nokia official website.
Moving on to its specs, both the phones flaunt a notch at the top, which is compiled with all screen to body ratio design and comes with a 90% glass on the surface area.
In terms of their physical overview, both Nokia 6.1 Plus & Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with a sandwiched glass and metal body giving it a compact and slim form factor experience.
Comparing both the devices, Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with a stunning 5.8-inch HD+ edge to edge display 2.5D curved front as well as rear glass, whereas Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a 5.8-inch Full HD+ display. However, both of them have a 19:9 screen aspect ratio with a 96% color gamut which allows for a vivid viewing experience.
Nokia 5.1Plus runs on an advanced MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor usually seen in a higher-tiered smartphone. It is clocked at 1.8GHz and is paired with 3 gigs of RAM along with 32 gigs of onboard storage. This can be further expanded up to 400 GB just by popping in a micro sd card. The chipset has been designed to deliver the precise power to handle all sorts of gaming, video, and multitasking applications with an ease.
Nokia 5.1 Plus also comes with a dual image sensor of 13 megapixels and 5 megapixels along with electronic image as well as video stabilization which helps to ensure that every photo & videos come out sharp and steady to perfectly capture every precious moment. Apart from that, advance imaging also allows one to capture studio style shots with rear depth sensing imaging and selectable bokeh as well as portrait lighting. There is an 8-megapixel sensor at the front with an aperture count of f/2.2. In terms of the connectivity, the Nokia 5.1Plus offers a whole host of options such as USB Type-C cable, 3.5mm jack, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, BT 4.2, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BDS/Galileo, FM radio.
And pretty much everything is powered by an integrated 3,060mAh battery which supports 5V/2A charging.
On the other side, Nokia 6.1Plus has a bit of a significant upgrade over its predecessor. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC mobile platform for fast and powerful performance throughout the day with the existing battery life. It is paired up with 4 gigs of RAM along with 64 gigs of onboard storage option, which can be further expanded up to 400 GB with the help of a micro SD card.
The phones come equipped with dual rear image sensors 16MP main sensor with an aperture count of F/2.0 and a 5MP secondary sensor with an aperture count F/2.4. At the front, a 16MP front-facing camera is equipped with an aperture count of F/2.0 along with a dual tone flash.
In terms of its connectivity option, the phones offer Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer (G-sensor), E-compass, Gyroscope, Fingerprint Sensor (on the back), 3.5mm jack, USB Type-C (2.0). And pretty much everything is juiced up by a 3060mAh, non-removable, fast charging compatible battery.
Both the phones come with a dual-SIM slot. And according to the company, both the phones join the Android One family of Nokia smartphones, offering an experience designed by Google that is smart, secure and simply amazing. Each device will stay fresh over time with three years of monthly security patches and two years of guaranteed OS updates after launch.

In terms of its availability, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus come in three color options – Gloss Black, Gloss White, and Gloss Midnight Blue. According to HMD Global, the Nokia 6.1 Plus will be available at a price of Rs. 15,999 starting from 30th August and the Nokia 5.1 Plus will go on sale from September onwards.
