Last year Asus took a lot of attention with their first gaming phone, the ROG Phone. Yesterday we got the first glimpse of their next generation of ROG Phone as it appeared on TENAA certification website. We also got our hands on to some images and specifications of Asus ROG Phone 2 and the gaming beast is scheduled to debut on July 23rd.
ROG Phone 2 Specifications
ROG Phone 2 will come with the latest Snapdragon 855+ Processor coupled with 8 or 12 GB of RAM. There are three storage options, 128 GB, 512 GB, and 1TB. Storage read speed is 727 Mbps and write speed is 211 Mbps which are great. On the front, there is 6.59” OLED display with the resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The display will also boast a 120 Hz refresh rate. All these hardware will be powered by a massive 5800 mAh battery and will also support 30 Watt fast charging.
The gaming phone is not focused on the camera department but that does not stop Asus from equipping it with some capable lenses, as the front camera is a 24 Megapixel shooter and for the back, the main lens is 48 megapixel. The secondary camera set up is still unknown but we are expecting it to be a depth sensor or a telephoto lens.
There’s no fingerprint scanner on the rear side which existed in the first-gen ROG Phone. The newly launched Asus 6Z has one on the rear side, but there’s a chance it’s moved either on the power button or maybe they have kept it under the screen. The second option is more viable and attention-seeking as it is an OLED display.
The main design philosophy is the same as the tried and tested first-gen ROG Phone. That is all the info we know so far. The price of the phone along with more information will be available next week.
